LD Sharma is a digital marketer. He is a founder and group CEO of Shoogloo Group, a digital marketing company in India. He is also a managing director of Optimise Media Group (India), a UK based marketing company. LD Sharma is also involved in many social and humanitarian work. LD Sharma was born in a village called Mandhara in Himachal Pradesh and has acquired a degree in MBA.
LD served in Indian Army with the Bengal Engineers Group initially and later joined the corporate world. He served with various institutions including Amity University, Oswal Group, The Time of India Group, Deal Group Media Plc UK before entering into entrepreneurial line.
He set up Deal Group Media Plc (DGM India) in India in 2006 - the first Affiliate Marketing company in India from the UK and later launched Shoogloo Group. He later set up Optimise Media Group in India - another UK based performance marketing company and helped set up Optimise in many countries in Asia Pac. Hence, LD is the first one who brought the concept of Affiliate marketing in India. After Being part of DGM India as director LD helped launch affiliate programs of more than 200 companies including MakeMyTrip, Yatra, Ferns N Petals, FlipKart, Snapdeal, Jet Airways etc through DGM India, Shoogloo and Optimise.
LD joined hands with John Robert Porter of I Sphire for the growth of Shoogloo, as such John holds 50% stake in the firm. In 2015, LD joined hands with Bhupinder Tomar and set up Shoogloo in Singapore to set up Shoogloo Digital, Shoogloo Media and Shoogloo Mobile businesses. In 2016, John Porter of iSpire better known as the grandson of TESCO Founder invested in Shoogloo and acquired 50%. In 2017, Optimise Media Group acquired the Shoogloo Media business of Shoogloo Group in Middle East and Africa to launch Optimise MEA.
He through Shoogloo was involved in launching the affiliate and shopping programs of huge brands like The Times Group and Jet Airways. LD is an angel investor as well and invested in many companies through GSF Accelerator launched by Rajesh Sawhney including Browntape, Docapps, Omnify. LD also invested in a few Bollywood movies including Mantostaan, Saanjh and an upcoming movie Side A Side B and films like Saanjh, Mantostaan and an upcoming film called Side A Side B.
LD is a car rally driver as well and has won many podium positions including Maruti Suzuki Rally of Himachal and Maruti Suzuki Uttrakhand Adventure Car Rally in 2016.
LD has completely sponsored the Brazil Ultra Marathon of Sunil Sharma from Sirmaur district. He also organized Blood donation camp in a civil hospital in Sirmaur district. Birla School, Kalyan invited LD Sharma for annual function speech to motivate the school students. He has also organized an event to remember Martyr Rotam Lal and donated a sum of RS. 21000 to Rotam Lal memorial club
Performance marketing company Shoogloo Affiliate Marketing is being rebranded as TrooTracMedia Pvt. Ltd, the company informs us. Shoogloo is among the few affiliate ad networks in India, although the segment might see an increase in competition with global player OMG also having launched. TrooTrac claims to have served over 100 advertisers through its network of 6000+ publishers, and says it delivers 100,000 transactions on a month on month basis.
What’s interesting is that LD Sharma, who founded ShooGloo was appointed a consultant to Online Media Group (OMG) earlier this year. OMG, which once powered the ShooGloo Network platform, now competes with Trootrac in India.
